As well as helping women to improve their business opportunities and provide a supportive network, Wednesday Club also support local charities. This year our nominated charities are St Richards Hospice, Noah’s Ark and Worcestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre. At the end of the year any spare funds Wednesday Club have will be split equally between the three charities.
Here's what we did in 2010 as a special fundraising event for our three charities… We held the fundraising lunch for our three charities during the Worcester Warriors v Leicester Tigers on 27th March, and invited all our members, their friends and families too. We raised £2040 from ticket sales and a raffle during lunch. Raffle prizes included a signed Worcester Warriors shirt donated by player Adam Black and a Spa Day Package from Malvernspa Hotel.
Noah’s Ark Trust
Noah’s Ark Trust provides a grief support service for bereaved children, young people and their families throughout Herefordshire & Worcestershire. The service is provided totally free of charge to those families, thereby ensuring accessibility to all. With the help of our 100+ volunteers, we anticipate supporting in the region of 500 bereaved children and young people in the coming 12 months. The Trust is very grateful to the Big Lottery Fund, BBC Children in Need and numerous Charitable Trusts for their financial support. However, despite this, financial support from the community is absolutely vital to enable us to continue providing our service free of charge to bereaved families. If you can help raise funds for us then please telephone the Noah’s Ark Office on 01905 745 735.

St Richard’s Hospice
We are very proud to be celebrating our silver anniversary in 2009, marking 25 years of offering excellent specialist care, comfort and compassion to our patients and their families living with cancer and other life-threatening illness. From very small beginnings, the wonderful vision of a few to set up a hospice in south Worcestershire became a reality. We now have 140 staff and 800 fantastic volunteers who make St Richard’s what it is today. With the opening of the new hospice and the In-patient Unit in 2006 we achieved a complete package of care for our patients. Whether they need to receive 24-hour In-patient care, home care from our specialist nurses, visits to Day Hospice, or support from our Family Support Team, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, Citizens Advice Bureau advisor or our complimentary therapists – St Richard’s is here to help. All our services are offered free to patients. We continue to work extremely hard to raise the £4.8m needed this year to provide our range of care. We rely on generous donations to raise 70% of this amount, with the remaining 30% provided by the NHS. There are a host of events marking our anniversary and many ways which we hope will inspire you to continue to support us in this very special year.
